Soccer Tournaments in Texas

One of my favorite US players of all time grew up playing soccer tournaments in Texas. Clint Dempsey, the cocky kid from Nacogdoches learned many of his
amazing tricks on the playing fields of the Lone Star state while competing on the youth teams of the Dallas Texans.

No matter which part of Texas you are interested in visiting, chances are good you will find a soccer tournament there. Some of the top tourist destinations include San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Austin and Corpus Christi, with Dallas being home to one of the finest soccer facilities in the world, Pizza Hut Park.

The mix of pro stadium (home of FC Dallas) and 17 championship quality soccer fields that Pizza Hut Park offers, allows for a variety of soccer events from Major League Soccer and U.S. Men's and Women's National Team games to youth soccer tournaments, and the facility is active for over 300 days of the year. Soon after it opened in 2005, it became the new permanent home of both US Youth Soccer and the Dallas Cup, an event which has dominated the landscape of soccer tournaments in Texas for a quarter of a century.

Texas offers a lot for visitors to see and do from its Wild West and Ghost town history to its numerous outdoor adventures, not to mention the Presidential Corridor Tour. Of course, you can’t forget about the most famous spot in Texas, The Alamo, located in San Antonio where 189 defenders fell on March 6, 1836, after repeated attacks by Mexican General Santa Anna's army. No matter what your interests, your soccer family will surely find something worthwhile to do in Texas.

While Texas may be known for its rich history, it is also known for its food, so come hungry! Did you know that BBQ was invented in Texas? Yep, that’s right, so your visit to Texas wouldn’t be complete without eating a meal from the originating state of such a tasty tradition. However, if your tastes are a little more refined, there are many opportunities for fine dining throughout the state, as well as a little something for everyone in-between.

Texas also offers the big attractions that you would expect from such a large state such as Six Flags Magic Mountain, Sea World and renowned zoos.
