Soccer Tournaments in KentuckySoccer tournaments in Kentucky, and youth soccer events in general, are not usually the first thing that come to mind when it comes to sports and Kentucky. That would be the Kentucky Derby, which runs the first Saturday of every May.
But Kentucky is also home to plenty of youth soccer tournaments. There’s the Bluegrass Invitational, held in historic Lexington, where teams have come from all over for quality soccer for almost 30 years. Or if you happen to be a resident of Kentucky and are a recreation player, check out the Commonwealth Cup, which has been hosted by the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association since the 1970s. While in Kentucky, you can visit the birthplace of one of America’s most famous presidents, Abraham Lincoln, who was born in Hodgenville. You can follow Kentucky’s Lincoln Heritage Trail and learn about Lincoln through his family and childhood experiences. The region is also home to world famous barbeque and blues music and actually has more shoreline than Florida (due to the vast number of lakes) and contains the second-largest North American waterfall after Niagara Falls. And of course, summers are very warm in Kentucky, so don’t forget the sunblock! For more information on what there is to do in Kentucky, click here.
