Trofeo Mediterraneo

Over the past quarter of a century or so, the Trofeo Mediterraneo soccer tournaments have been bringing teams from as far away as Australia, Belgium, England, Germany, Finland, France, Italy, Holland, Austria, Poland and the United States to northeastern Spain to enjoy international competition in what is by far the largest sporting complex in Spain.

There are, in fact, three editions of the tournament - one in late March, a second in the earliest days of April, and a third a few days after that.

Between them, the three events attract almost 400 teams each year.

Games are played at a wonderful sports facility in Tordera, which sits just outside the seaside resort of Blanes between Lloret de Mar in the north and Calella in the south.

The venue has nine beautifully manicured grass fields, with the option of using additional artificial fields in the surrounding area if it proves necessary. There are also eighteen fully-equipped locker rooms, a bar and cafeteria, and a covered area so that players can get out of the hot sun between games.
