Gallagher Friendlies
Now in its third year, the Gallagher Friendlies is described by organizers as a “new direction in youth soccer events.” It has become one of the top Labor Day tournaments in Region II, drawing top teams like Chicago Magic, Eclipse Select, Patadoreas, and PDA NJ.
The event is held at three locations in the St. Louis area, including the new Scott Gallagher Complex in Maryland Heights. Organizers stress that the emphasis is on providing quality soccer and strong environment for player development over wins and losses.
Things to do in St. Louis Labor Day Weekend is a terrific time to be in St. Louis, with numerous attractions for visiting soccer families besides just the Gallagher Friendlies. The St. Louis County Fair and Air Show takes place on the fairgrounds at Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield, MO. The fair has been a Labor Day tradition in these parts for over 15 years and is certainly worth checking out between games.Sports lovers can choose between Cardinals Baseball, Missouri Football, or NASCAR, depending on team and event schedules. Or perhaps try the Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum and International Bowling Hall of Fame. Of course, no trip to St. Louis would be complete without a trip to the Gateway Arch, which also houses the Museum of Westward Expansion. And finally, the home of Budweiser and the Busch family that founded the famous brewery offers tours of the Brewery and clydesdale stables, as well as trips to Grant's farm, the Busch family's ancestral home, which Zagats ranks as the seventh best family attraction in the US.
