Arsenal Summer Classic

Formerly the Southwest Summer Classic, this event changed names in 2008, but is still considered one of the top tournaments in the area. The event regularly attracts 250 to 300 teams thanks in part to club relationships with the likes of West Coast FC, Cerritos Regional Soccer Club, Albion SC, Del Mar Sharks and Southbay Gunners, among others.

Teams traveling from outside Southern California are guaranteed entry so as to allow them to make airline reservations, process travel papers and reserve hotels. However, no refunds will be made after immediate receipt of applications.

All games take place at one location, which is a big plus, and coaches of U10 teams should note that this is one of very few tournaments in the area that allows this age group to play 11v11.

Places to Stay in the Area

This is a "stay to play" tournament, which means that visiting teams are required to stay in hotels that are approved by the tournament organizers as a condition of participation. This may require merely booking rooms at one of the designated hotels, or it may require booking them specifically through the tournament's own designated housing service.
