Several Youth World Series champions crowned in California

Several US Club Soccer Youth World Series champions were crowned last weekend in San Bernardino, CA. The Youth World Series provides an introductory tournament experience to US Club Soccer's youngest members.

Arsenal FC won a trio of titles, earning championships in the Boys U9, Boys U13 and Girls U13 age groups. In the Boys U9 competition, Arsenal FC went undefeated in round robin play to win the group. Arsenal FC defeated its own Arsenal FC White side, 3-1, in the Boys U13 Final, while the Alta Loma-based club blanked the SoCal Blues, 2-0, to claim the Girls U13 title.

In other championship matches, Hotspurs Red outlasted Arsenal FC B, 3-1, for the U10 Boys crown, Laguna Niguel Blue shut out Southwest Elite, 2-0, in the Boys U11 title tilt, the I.E. Strikers defeated Nevada's Club Mexico, 3-1, to win the Boys U12 final, and Cerritos United SC White edged Arsenal FC White, 3-2, to take home the Girls U12 trophy.

A number of teams and players were recognized with awards including the Arsenal FC Boys U13s (All- Offense Team), Laguna Niguel Blue Boys U11s (All- Defense Team) and Arsenal FC Boys U13s' Sebastian Velasquez (Golden Boot). An All-Youth World Series San Bernardino, Calif. Team was also announced (listed below). In addition, scouting occurred at all ages for US Club Soccer's player identification program, id2.
