UVM Holds Shoeless Tournament
More than 100 University of Vermont students braved possible busted toes and 40-degree weather to attend “Lose the Shoes,” a shoeless fundraiser for Futbol para la Vida, an HIV and AIDS education initiative in the Dominican Republic.
The bare-toed tourney was played 3v3 with 25 teams competing for locally donated prizes.
The program is part of the Grassroots Soccer network, which is holding shoeless soccer tournaments at colleges and universities throughout the country as part of the College Kick AIDS campaign.
