US Club Soccer Hosting Events at 2008 NSCAA Convention

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – US Club Soccer will sponsor a members' social gathering, a classroom session, a field demonstration session, and individual meetings with clubs at this January’s NSCAA Convention.
US Club Soccer will host these events and a number of others Jan. 16-20 at the 2008 NSCAA Convention in Baltimore, Md.
The Members' Social Gathering, open to US Club Soccer members only, will be held Friday, Jan. 18 from 5:00-6:30pm at J. Paul's Harborplace (301 Light St.). Members will have the opportunity to meet and chat with other US Club Soccer members as well as US Club Soccer staff. To gain admittance to the social gathering, members should present their US Club Soccer staff passcard. A membership list will also be located at the door.
US Club Soccer will also host both a classroom session and a field demonstration session at the NSCAA Convention. These events will provide practical assistance from some of the top soccer club coaches and administrators in the country.
On Thursday, Jan. 17 at 2:30pm, US Club Soccer will hold a classroom session entitled "Developing Club Leagues Under US Club Soccer." Ben Ziemer, President of the NorCal Premier League, will present a blueprint for clubs to utilize when forming leagues that suit their own unique needs and challenges. Utilizing US Club Soccer's league sanctioning services, the NorCal Premier League began play in 2004 and now consists of over 450 teams playing in both spring and fall leagues. The NorCal Premier League also runs its own state cup competition and player development program.
U.S. Soccer Boys U-15 National Team head coach Jim Barlow and assistant coach Gerry McKeown, who also serves as US Club Soccer's id2 Director, will stage a clinic titled "Soccer Home Improvement" on Friday, Jan. 18 at 10:30am. The clinic will provide coaches with exercises to teach youth players that incorporate elements of street soccer and free play. Using their friends and items readily found in most neighborhoods, players will be able to have a fun meaningful soccer experience that enhances their love affair with the ball away from their formal club training sessions.
Key staff members along with several US Club Soccer board members will be in attendance at the NSCAA Convention to listen to ideas, concerns and suggestions and to answer questions at the US Club Soccer booth on the Exhibition Hall floor (exhibit #1122). In addition, official US Club Soccer Nike merchandise and gear will be raffled off at the US Club Soccer booth.
