Soccer Tournaments in VirginiaSoccer tournaments in Virginia are some of the most competitive on the east coast and the state is also home to some of the top youth soccer clubs in the country, including Beach FC, the Rickmond Kickers and the Richmond Strikers. The mild climate allows the season to start early and, therefore, makes it a terrific location for "snowbird" teams from the colder northeast looking to build match fitness prior to the start of their own spring seasons. Starting with the Jefferson Cup and Chesterfield Icebreaker Cups in March, and going all the way through to November, there are loads of terrific tournaments for all levels of players. And there are loads of things for soccer families to do while visiting, too. From the history and culture of Washington D.C. and Williamsburg, to the seaside charms of Virginia Beach, there is much more to do besides just playing soccer in Virginia. There are a number of good pro soccer teams in the area, as well, including the pride of MLS, DC United. Virginia is a beautiful state, with loads of fun activities for soccer families to do either between games, or before and after the tournament itself. Check out this site for some ideas.
