Soccer Tournaments in New HampshireMost of the outdoor soccer tournaments in New Hampshire take place in the spring and summer months. Memorial Day is the big opening weekend, with a huge girls only tournament taking place in Nashua, and the long-standing and highly successful Amherst and Dartmouth Cups also taking place that weekend.
Later in the year, local soccer celebrity, Ben Brewster, runs his tournament on a beautiful patch of land he owns in Hampton, NH and there are many tournaments over the Labor Day and Columbus Day weekends, including the Nashua Labor Day tourament.
Once the weather cools, indoor action is available at many new facilities, including the Rising Stars center in Bedford, which boasts the largest indoor soccer field in the region and is possibly the only place in New England where you can play 11 v 11 soccer in January.
Despite the close proximity of Massachusetts, New Hampshire more than holds its own with regard to the tournaments it offers, and continues to develop its own unique soccer infrastructure. The dominant youth club in the state is Seacoast United, which recently opened a brand new facility at which it stages regular tournaments throughout the year. There is also the USL franchise, the New Hampshire Phantoms, which plays a regular season during the summer months and also owns its own indoor facility.
For visiting soccer families, New Hampshire is beautiful at almost any time of year. The summer months see thousands flock to the beaches of the Seacoast region, while the leaf-peeping season in the fall is spectacular. Winter tournaments can be combined with weekend trips to ski country and, with the southern border being less than an hour from Boston, there are also the usual tourist attractions of Beantown to entice visitors.
