Soccer Tournaments in IndianaYouth soccer tournaments in Indiana are played in the back yards of two of the most celebrated college soccer programs in the country. On the men’s side, Indiana University has won no fewer than seven NCAA titles, the most recent being in 2004, and several former Hoosiers have gone on to play professionally, including Chris Klein, Dema Kovalenko, Pat Noonan and Nick Garcia.
Meanwhile, on the women’s side, Notre Dame, though known mostly for its men’s football program, has been one of the few women’s college teams in recent years that has broken the long-running monopoly of the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Fighting Irish women’s soccer team won the NCAA crown in 1995 and 2004, and has been defeated NCAA finalists four times (losing each time to North Carolina). Beyond the collegiate level there are several Indiana teams in the USL, including the Fort Wayne Fever, The Indiana Invaders and FC Indiana, whose women’s team has won two Women’s US Open Cup national championships in recent years. For visiting youth soccer families, Indiana has plenty to offer besides just playing soccer. From an Amish country getaway in Middlebury, Nappanee and Shipshewana to the big city family fun that can be found in Indianapolis. Meanwhile, Indiana Dunes State Park offers over 2,000 acres of unique landscape, three miles of sandy Lake Michigan shoreline, fabulous sand dunes, swimming, hiking and bike trails. Here, then, is our list of soccer tournaments in Indiana.
