Soccer Tournaments in Holland

Soccer tournaments in Holland have traditionally provided an opportunity to view some of the finest young soccer talent in the world.

That is because the country has, for decades now, been renowned as one of the most efficient at developing world class players out of its relatively small population.

The focus of this player development system has been Ajax, whose youth program has produced players like Johann Cruyff, Marco Van Basten, Ronald and Frank de Boer and Dennis Bergkamp over the years. While these players have traditionally played just a few seasons for the parent club before being sold off at huge profit to richer teams in Italy, Spain or England, there have always seemed to be plenty more like them coming up through the pipeline.

Amsterdam Now, perhaps, the French have taken over as the most prolific developers of young talent, but the Dutch still pose a formidable challenge for any team entering tournaments there.

Besides soccer, there is plenty to do and see, particularly in Amsterdam, where a visit to the Anna Frank house is a sobering experience. Art lovers will relish a trip to a country that has more museums per square meter than any other in the world and there are lots of beautiful gardens to see all across the country.
