Norway Cup
The Norway Cup is one of he largest youth soccer tournaments in the world, attracting up to 30,000 players, and 1,400 teams from 49 different countries. The tournament prides itself on its ability to foster unity and friendship among its paticipants, having attracted teams from slums of Sao Paulo and Nairobi, the war torn regions of Afghanistan, and a combined Palestinian-Israeli team at various times in its history. The event has also always been a strong proponent of girls' soccer, having included female divisions in its very first incarnation in 1972, long before girls soccer was as popular as it is today. Besides soccer, there are lots of things to do in Oslo, which enjoys all the cultural, shopping and entertainment options you would expect from a modern European capital city. The tournament also has a grand opening show which features a number of famous artists, from Norway and beyond, and as many as 30,000 spectators in attendance.
