National Cup Finals to be Held at Virginia Beach
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The 2008 National Cup VII Finals will be held July 26-29 in Virginia Beach, Va., and the Regionals, previously scheduled to be held in Virginia Beach, will now take place on July 4-7 in Winston-Salem, N.C., US Club Soccer announced this week.
The 2008 National Cup VII Regionals, open to all Boys and Girls U11-U17 US Club Soccer member teams, will be played at BB&T Soccer Park in Winston-Salem, N.C. Victorious teams from each of the eight 2008 National Cup VII Regionals will advance to the Finals, which will be held at Hampton Roads Soccer Complex and Princess Anne Athletic Complex in Virginia Beach.
The 2008 National Cup VII Finals will be contested by Boys and Girls U13-U17 teams in Super Group and Premier divisions. Boys and Girls U11 and U12 Regional Champions will still be crowned, but teams in those flights will not advance to the Finals.
In 2007, US Club Soccer successfully staged a National Cup Regional at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex, which is owned by the City of Virginia Beach and features 19 fields with Tifway Bermuda grass. The Princess Anne Athletic Complex includes seven soccer fields, two of which are lighted.
“As both complexes boast some of the finest fields in the country, they are perfect facilities to host our National Cup Finals,” sUS Club Soccer Executive Director Bill Sage said in a statement. “In addition to the high-level competition, the participating teams will also enjoy the amenities and attractions of one of the nation’s most popular vacation destinations.”
