Locations Set For 2009 National Cup Regionals
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – US Club Soccer has announced the dates and locations of the 2009 National Cup VIII Regionals, part of the organization's national championship event for U-11 through U-17 boys' and girls' teams.
The 2009 National Cup VIII Regionals return to seven of the same locations as the 2008 event. The Burlington, Wash., Regional takes the place of last year's Boise, Idaho, Regional. Because of last year's success in splitting the Modesto, Calif., and Pittsgrove, N.J., Regionals into separate weekends for boys and girls, US Club Soccer opted to do the same for the 2009 National Cup VIII.
Additionally, the National Collegiate Showcase will again be held in conjunction with the 2009 National Cup VIII Finals, at a date and location to be announced in the near future. This provides college coaches with the rare opportunity to scout top-level U-15 through U-17 boys' and girls' players at two separate events - but at the same location.
"With nearly 1,500 teams applying for last year's Cup, we are planning for more growth in 2009," said US Club Soccer executive director Bill Sage. "The National Collegiate Showcase in conjunction with the Finals was well received, and we will continue that in 2009 as well."
The online application process will be available in November, and the date and location of the 2009 National Cup VIII Finals will be announced shortly.
