Kanga Cup
Now entering its 17th year, The McDonald's Kanga Cup International Youth Tournament is the longest running youth tournament in the southern hemisphere. It started life in Sydney in 1991, but move to Canberra two years later, and has since grown into one of the pre-eminent youth soccer tournaments in the South East Asian and Oceania region.
And it certainly draw in teams from a wide geography area. Past participants have been from Oceana (Fiji, New Zealand, East Timor and, of course, Australia) Asia (China, Chinese Taipei, and Indonesia) Europe (Russia, Georgia, England, Denmark, and Italy), and the US.
A wide range of social activities encourage social and cultural exchange between competitors and officials, all of which makes the tournament a "cultural festival of football".
