Chesterfield IcebreakerNow in its 16th year, the Chesterfield Icebreaker, hosted by the Chesterfield United Soccer Club, is one of several Virginia tournaments that bill themselves as the ideal warm-up for the spring season. As such, it is a powerful magnet for teams from all over the northeast, attracting upwards of over 360 teams to its most recent edition. The tournament offers competition for all levels of play, and even attracts a number of college coaches who come to scout the higher level teams for future college prospects. The event takes place at 17 locations throughout the Richmond area. The tournament uses the GotSoccer scheduling and score reporting system, which organizers hope will allow them to schedule games and update scores more efficiently.
Places to Stay in Richmond
Alll visiting teams are required to use the tournament’s official hotel vendor, Outer Zone Sports, as a condition of acceptance. Outer Zone Sports is a local company that works directly with the hotels in the area and also works very closely with the tournament organizers to receive advance notice of game sites and team placements. That assures the best chance of securing rooms close to the visiting team’s playing site.
